Housing and Older Adults

By 2030, the population age 50 or older is projected to increase by 20 percent to over 130 million people, and one in five people in the U.S. will be age 65 or older. This dramatic increase in the older adult population has important implications for housing. What types of housing will this population need? What types of neighborhoods will be most in demand? Will the older adult population be able to age in place or age in the community? What sorts of market and policy interventions will be required to enable that to happen?

Experts in the area of housing and older adults will present on housing needs of the growing older adult population, livable communities policies that address the safety and quality of neighborhoods, and programs that combine housing and services to enable aging in place.  Webinar participants will have an opportunity to ask the panelists questions and to share their perspectives on how to meet the housing needs of our older adult population.The webinar will be moderated by NHC's vice president of research, Lisa Sturtevant, Ph.D.
